Stage 2 Mandatory Water Conservation in Effect

Dear Foxfire Residents

At the request of the Foxfire Village Water Department and Council Member Chris Kragel, the Mayor has declared Stage 2 Mandatory Water Conservation measures due to prolonged drought conditions. (additional details, please reference Section 19-124 of the Foxfire Village ordinances)

According to Drought.gov, Moore County is experiencing its second-driest year to date in 132 years of recorded data. While our new well has increased water capacity and allowed us to provide more water than ever before, ongoing drought conditions continue to place a strain on our resources. These conservation measures are necessary to help protect and preserve our water supply.

Stage 2 Water restrictions require the following measures 
- All water customers are required to reduce their water consumption by 10%
- Use of drinking water for washing of impervious surfaces is prohibited
- Irrigation use is limited to a half inch per week only between the hours of 8pm and 8am.
- Determining inches of watering can be difficult, so it is advised that irrigation times be cut in half.
- Irrigation should only occur between 8pm and 8am, this allows our wells to recover during the day and avoids wasted water due to evaporation.

Irrigation use is the main driving factor in high pumping times. Without the help from our high irrigation users, we will be forced into more restrictive measures.
